User journey

See what a user did before it broke

Pick a user and follow their latest session in order: the crashes, errors and failed API calls they hit, and the screens and events around them when product analytics is on. A timeline of what happened, not a video.

User Journey details

What you get

  • The latest session, in order

Crashes, errors and failed API calls as they happened, so you can see what came first.

  • Screens and events too

With product analytics on, the timeline adds screens and events. Screens are recorded automatically on web, for Android Activities and for named Flutter routes.

  • Their last 10 sessions

Start time, length and app version for each, and whether the session ended in a crash.

  • The issues they hit

Every issue the user ran into, each linking to the issue with its stack trace and impact.

  • Find a customer by ID

Search the Users tab by user ID, device, OS, country or app version when someone reports a problem.

  • In tickets and fixes

Tickets and Fix with AI include what the user did first: the screens, events and API calls before the latest occurrence.

How it works

  1. 1

    Identify your users

Call identify with your own stable user ID after login, and on startup when a user is already signed in.

  2. 2

    Open Users

In the dashboard, open Users and pick a person, or search for the ID a customer gave you.

  3. 3

    Follow the timeline

Read their latest session in order and jump straight to the issue that broke it.

Questions about user journey

Is this session replay?

No. Codeskop doesn't record video, screenshots or taps, so there's no recording to watch. What you get instead is a timeline of the user's latest session: the crashes, errors and failed API calls in order and, with product analytics on, the screens they visited and the events you track, each linking to the issue.

Which plan includes the user journey?

Growth and above. On Free and Starter, every issue still shows how many users it affected.

Do I have to identify users?

No. Without identify, Codeskop follows each app install or browser anonymously. Identify users with your own ID to look up a specific customer and to count one person across devices.

Does Codeskop need names or email addresses?

No. Users are known only by the ID you choose. Property and trait values that look like an email address or phone number are replaced with [REDACTED] before they're stored.

How far back does the Users tab go?

The last 30 days, listing up to 500 of the most recently active users. Search by user ID to find anyone in that window.

Platforms

One SDK. Every platform.

Codeskop works across your stack, from mobile and web to backend services. What each SDK captures

It all connects

From issue to insight, in one production story.

Errors, user journeys, network activity and releases are linked, so you go from symptom to root cause in minutes.

  1. An issue occurs

A crash or error is captured with its full context.

  2. See who it hit

How many users, which devices and which release.

  3. Check the requests

The failing and slow API calls around it.

  4. Check the release

Whether the latest release made it worse.

  5. Investigate and fix

Assign it, ticket it, or get a proposed fix.
