Terms of Service

Last updated: 2 October 2026

The short version: you own your data, you can cancel any time, payments are handled by Paddle as our reseller, and every new subscription comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. The full terms follow.

1. Who we are and these terms

Codeskop is provided by Codeskop Ltd, a company registered in Kenya ("Codeskop", "we", "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our crash, error, network and product analytics platform, including the SDKs, the dashboard, our APIs and any related services (together, the "Service").

By creating an account, installing an SDK or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it, and "you" means that organization.

You must be at least 18 years old and use the Service for business or professional purposes. If you don't agree to these Terms, don't use the Service.

2. Accounts and organizations

An account belongs to a person. An organization (workspace) is the unit that owns projects, data and the subscription. The organization's owner controls billing and can invite members, assign roles and remove access.

You must give accurate account information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your password, two-factor devices and API keys secure, and for everything that happens under your account and organization. Tell us promptly at hello@codeskop.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

Public SDK keys can only write events and are designed to ship inside your apps. Secret keys must be kept confidential and must never be embedded in client applications.

3. Plans, prices and payment

Plans. We offer a Free plan and paid plans (Starter, Growth and Scale), each with its own monthly event quota, data retention, limits and features, as listed on our pricing page. Paid plans are subscriptions billed in advance, monthly or yearly. Yearly plans cost 15% less than twelve monthly payments.

Our reseller. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you buy a subscription you also accept Paddle's Buyer Terms, and Paddle's name may appear on your card statement.

Prices and tax. Prices are in US dollars and include any sales tax, VAT or GST that applies. Paddle calculates the tax for your location at checkout and shows it on your invoice. Business customers can add a tax or VAT number at checkout or in the billing portal where reverse charge applies.

Usage above the quota. Each plan includes a monthly quota of production events, and Growth and Scale also include a separate product analytics quota. Events sent with test keys are free and never counted. On paid plans, events above the quota are still accepted and billed in arrears, on or shortly after the first day of the next month, at your plan's published overage rate. The extra events and the running charge are shown in the dashboard under Billing throughout the month. As a safeguard against runaway usage, capture pauses once usage reaches three times the quota until the next month; contact us to raise this limit. On the Free plan, events above the quota are not accepted until the next month and nothing is charged.

Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, using the payment method on file, until cancelled. We will give at least 30 days' notice of any price increase, which applies from your next renewal after the notice period.

Changing plans. Upgrades take effect immediately and the difference for the rest of the current period is charged straight away. Downgrades also take effect immediately, and the unused part of what you've paid is credited against your future bills. Switching between monthly and yearly billing is settled the same way at the time of the change.

Failed payments. If a payment fails, Paddle retries it and we notify the organization's owner. If payment is still outstanding after the retry period, the subscription is cancelled and the organization moves to the Free plan.

4. Cancellation and refunds

The organization's owner can cancel at any time in the dashboard under Billing. The subscription stays active until the end of the period you've paid for and then isn't renewed; the organization moves to the Free plan. You can resume a cancelled subscription any time before it ends.

Refunds, including our 14-day money-back guarantee on your first payment, are described in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or cancellation right you have under the law that applies to you.

5. Your data

You keep all rights to the data your applications send to the Service and the content you add to it ("Customer Data"). You give us a worldwide, limited licence to host, copy, process and display Customer Data only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service, including aggregation, issue grouping, anomaly detection and alerting.

For Customer Data that contains personal data about your end users, you are the controller and we process it on your behalf, as described in our Privacy Policy. A data processing agreement is available on request at hello@codeskop.com.

You are responsible for having a lawful basis and giving any notices needed to collect data from your end users, and for configuring the SDKs appropriately. Don't send passwords, payment card data, government ID numbers, health data or other special category data to the Service. The SDKs redact sensitive data by default, as documented in Privacy & Security.

Data is kept for the retention period of your plan. Data from test environments is kept for a shorter period set by Codeskop (30 days by default). When an organization is deleted, its data is deleted within 30 days, except where we must keep records by law.

We may use aggregated, de-identified information about how the Service is used (for example total event volumes) to operate and improve it, provided it doesn't identify you, your end users or your Customer Data.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service in breach of any law or third-party rights; (b) send malware, or use the Service to store or distribute unlawful content; (c) try to access accounts, data or systems you aren't authorized to access, or probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission; (d) interfere with or overload the Service, including by sending traffic designed to exceed documented limits; (e) reverse engineer the Service except where the law allows it; (f) resell or provide the Service to third parties as a standalone product without our agreement; or (g) use the Service to build a competing product.

We may rate-limit, pause capture or suspend access where use breaches these Terms or threatens the security or stability of the Service, and will tell you why unless the law or the urgency of the situation prevents it.

7. Integrations and AI features

The Service can connect to third-party products you choose, such as source code hosts, issue trackers, chat tools and AI providers. When you connect one, you authorize us to exchange data with it on your behalf. Your use of those products is governed by their own terms, and you are responsible for the credentials and permissions you grant.

AI Assist and Fix with AI run on the AI provider account you connect, which bills you directly for its usage. AI output can be incomplete or wrong. Suggestions, tickets and code changes are proposals: nothing is written to your repository until you approve it, changes arrive as a draft pull request, and you are responsible for reviewing and testing them before merging.

8. Availability, support and changes

We work to keep the Service available and publish incidents and planned maintenance on the status page in the dashboard. We may change, add or remove features over time; if we remove a material paid feature without a replacement, we will tell you in advance, and you may cancel and receive a pro rata refund of prepaid fees for the remaining period.

Features marked beta or early access are provided for evaluation, may change or be withdrawn, and are excluded from any service commitments.

Support is provided by email and in the dashboard, with the response levels described on the pricing page for your plan.

9. Our intellectual property

We and our licensors own the Service, the SDKs, documentation and all related intellectual property. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service and to include the SDKs in your applications during your subscription. SDKs published under an open-source licence are governed by that licence.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

10. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your organization at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these Terms and don't fix the breach within 14 days of notice, immediately for serious breaches such as abuse, fraud or security threats, or if required by law.

On termination, your right to use the Service ends. If you need a copy of your data, contact us before deleting your organization. Sections that by their nature should survive (including fees owed, data, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability and governing law) survive termination.

11. Warranties and disclaimers

We will provide the Service with reasonable skill and care. Except as stated in these Terms and to the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim all other warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will detect every failure in your software.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill or data, arising out of these Terms or the Service.

To the extent the law allows, each party's total liability arising out of these Terms or the Service is limited to the amounts you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or US$100 if you used only the Free plan.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for your payment obligations, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

13. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Codeskop against third-party claims arising from Customer Data you send to the Service in breach of these Terms or applicable law, or from your breach of section 6 (Acceptable use).

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. The courts of Nairobi, Kenya, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them, except that either party may seek urgent injunctive relief in any competent court. Before starting proceedings, both parties will try in good faith to resolve the dispute by contacting the other for at least 30 days. If you are a consumer, you also keep any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings that the law of your country gives you.

15. General

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will give at least 30 days' notice of material changes by email or in the dashboard; continued use after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect.

You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Neither party is responsible for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These Terms, the Refund Policy and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about the Service.
