Verdict: Sentry is the more mature and much broader platform. It offers error monitoring across a very wide range of platforms, plus distributed tracing, session replay, profiling, logs, cron and uptime monitoring, and a self-hosted option. If you need any of those, or you monitor a large backend estate, choose Sentry. Codeskop is narrower and mobile-first. It focuses on crashes, ANRs and failed API calls on Android and Flutter, with an offline-first SDK, one simple event quota, WhatsApp and Telegram alerts, and payment by M-Pesa GlobalPay for teams in Kenya. Pick Codeskop if that focused set is what you need, and you'd rather not manage several quotas.

Pricing (as of October 2026)
Sentry (sentry.io/pricing, checked 8 October 2026):
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Errors included | Users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Developer | $0 | $0 | 5,000 | 1 |
| Team | $29/month | $312/year ($26/month) | 50,000 | Unlimited |
| Business | $89/month | $960/year ($80/month) | 50,000 | Unlimited |
Sentry prices errors, spans, session replays, attachments, logs and monitors as separate quotas, with pay-as-you-go top-ups. That's flexible, but you need to watch several meters.
Codeskop (pricing, checked against our live plans API on 8 October 2026):
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Events/month | Team | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 10,000 | 2 | Crashes and handled errors. No ANR, network capture or alerts |
| Starter | $49 | $500 | 100,000 | 5 | + ANR, network capture, alerts for 1 project. Overage $0.50 per 1,000 |
| Growth | $199 | $2,030 | 1,000,000 | 15 | + user tracking, product analytics, tickets, Fix with AI, all alert channels. Overage $0.25 per 1,000 |
| Scale | $599 | $6,110 | 10,000,000 | Unlimited | Everything + 99.9% uptime SLA. Overage $0.08 per 1,000 |
At Codeskop, a crash, an ANR, a handled error and a failed network call each count as one event against a single monthly quota. Session heartbeats and test-key traffic are free.
Honest cost read: for pure error tracking, Sentry Team is cheaper than Codeskop Starter ($26–29 vs $49 a month) and includes unlimited users. Codeskop Starter gives you a larger single quota (100,000 events) that also covers ANRs and failed API calls, but it's capped at 5 team members. Run the numbers for your own volume.
Where Sentry is better
- Breadth. Tracing, session replay, profiling, logs, cron and uptime monitoring in one product. Codeskop has none of these.
- Platform coverage and maturity. Generally available SDKs across mobile, web, desktop, game engines and many backend languages. Codeskop's iOS and KMP support is beta, and so are its server SDKs.
- Self-hosting. You can run Sentry on your own infrastructure. Codeskop is cloud-only.
- Debugging depth. Mobile session replay and richer ANR diagnostics help when a stack trace isn't enough. Codeskop's ANR reports don't include a main-thread stack trace yet.
- Price for small teams. The Developer plan is free for one user, and Team is $26/month on annual billing with unlimited users.
When Codeskop is the better fit
- Your app lives or dies by API calls. Payments, logistics and fintech apps often fail at the network, not in the UI. Codeskop's OkHttp adapter records 4xx responses, timeouts and connection failures as well as 5xx, out of the box, and groups them by endpoint with the devices, OS versions and app versions affected. Timeouts and dropped connections are often the failures that matter most on mobile networks. When an M-Pesa STK push call times out on a congested network, you see
POST /payments/stk → timeouttrending, not just the crash it caused later. - Your users are often offline. Events go to disk first and upload when there's a connection. Crashes and ANRs are never evicted, so reports from users on patchy 3G or out of data still arrive.
- ANRs on older Android. The watchdog covers Android 7–10 as well as exit records on 11+, which matters if many of your users are on budget phones that stopped receiving updates.
- You want one simple quota. One event counter covers crashes, ANRs, handled errors and failed network calls, with a published overage rate per plan.
- Your team lives in WhatsApp or Telegram. Alerts go straight there (WhatsApp from Starter, Telegram from Growth).
- You're in Kenya and don't have a bank card. Paid plans can be paid with M-Pesa GlobalPay's virtual Visa card.
- Privacy by default. Exception messages are redacted unless you opt in, query strings are stripped, and bodies and credential headers are never captured.
Tip
Every production incident turns into a scavenger hunt. This is because engineering teams rebuild what happened by hand, across tools that each hold one piece. The reality is, Teams aren't short of data, but nothing connects it when it's created. Codeskop changes this - Nashon
Using both
Some teams keep Sentry for backend tracing and web, and add Codeskop to their Android or Flutter app for API failure visibility and alerts. On Android, Codeskop chains onto any previously installed uncaught-exception handler and passes every crash on, so another crash tool keeps working. Add it next to your existing setup:
dependencies { implementation("com.codeskop.sdk:tracker-android:0.3.0") implementation("com.codeskop.sdk:tracker-okhttp:0.3.0") // optional: network capture}class MyApplication : Application() { override fun onCreate() { super.onCreate() CodeskopAndroid.init(this, CodeskopConfig(apiKey = BuildConfig.CODESKOP_KEY)) }}Then register Codeskop on your OkHttp client with .codeskop() (see the network capture docs). OkHttp allows only one event listener factory, so if another SDK already sets one, add just CodeskopOkHttpInterceptor(). You'll still get every failed request.
Note
Sentry is built for one signal and for one audience. Where Codeskop wins is, it captures every signal through one SDK into a single normalized context model, so the story is already connected when someone opens it.
Frequently asked questions
Is Codeskop a Sentry alternative?
For mobile crash, ANR and API-failure monitoring, yes. As a replacement for Sentry's tracing, session replay, profiling or self-hosting, no: Codeskop doesn't offer those.
Does Codeskop have session replay?
No. Codeskop doesn't record video or screens. On Growth and above, each user's session journey shows their crashes, errors and failed API calls in order.
Is Sentry free?
Sentry's Developer plan is $0 for one user with 5,000 errors a month (as of October 2026). Codeskop's Free plan is $0 for up to two team members with 10,000 events a month, but doesn't include ANRs, network capture or alerts.
Can I self-host Codeskop?
No. Codeskop is cloud-only. Sentry offers a self-hosted version under its Functional Source License.
Which is better for a Flutter app?
If you need session replay or tracing, Sentry. If you mainly need Dart errors, Android native crashes and ANRs, failed API calls and WhatsApp alerts, Codeskop is simpler.
