On every plan
Comments and @mentions are included on every plan, Free too. Everyone on your team can take part: up to 5 team members on Free, up to 15 on Starter and unlimited on Growth and above. See Plans & features.Comment on an issue
Open any issue in Issues and write in its Discussion. Comments are shown oldest first, and Cmd or Ctrl + Enter sends one. Comments are plain text, up to 5,000 characters.
@mention a teammate
Type @ and pick a teammate from the list. Only members of your organization can be mentioned, so invite someone to the team before you mention them. Email addresses are never turned into mentions.
Who gets notified
| Option | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Mentioned | n/a | Everyone you mention gets a notification in the dashboard bell and an email that opens the issue at your comment. |
| Assignee | n/a | The person the issue is assigned to hears about every new comment, in the bell and by email. |
| Author | n/a | Never notified about their own comment. |
Nobody gets more than one notification for the same comment. Editing a comment notifies only people newly mentioned in it. Each person can turn off the mention and comment emails in Settings → Notifications, or with the unsubscribe link in any of those emails; the bell notification always arrives.
Assignment, status and the activity timeline
Assign the issue to a teammate and move its status through Open, To do, In progress, Halted, In review and Completed. The activity timeline on the issue shows comments, assignment changes, status changes and tickets created, in one feed. Members with the Support & CX lens can comment and @mention but not assign or change status.
Edit and delete
| Option | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Every team member | n/a | Reads the discussion, comments and mentions teammates. |
| Comment author | n/a | Edits or deletes their own comments. |
| Owners and admins | n/a | Can also delete anyone's comment. |
A deleted comment leaves Comment deleted in its place, so the rest of the discussion still reads correctly. Creating, editing and deleting comments is recorded in the audit log (without the text).
